The Woodplumpton Witch: The Horrible Events of Britain’s Last Witch Trial
In the 17th century, people were obsessed with tales of witches and supernatural beings and saw many women as evil witches. Whatever went wrong within a community and in society was often blamed on these women, and they were demonized for it.
Sadly, these hysterical beliefs had horrific consequences. Many so-called witches were publicly prosecuted and murdered, in Europs infamous Witch Trials. They happened all over the continent and in other areas of the world.
While the Salem trials in the Americas are still very well-known historically, the witch trials of the British Isles were also very grisly and brutal. Many women in England and Scotland were tortured and killed for their “crimes,” which only existed in the tortured imaginations of their deluded accusors.
